We're off on a round the world trip visiting friends in Thailand, Peru and Ecuador.
Here’s a bit of a rough route plan that we have …
Arriving on the 2nd September our first stop is Thailand to see Hillster in Chiang Mai. After a week doing Elephant treks, Thai cooking and visiting temples we take a weeks trip to Laos with Hillster. Here we plan on visiting Luang Prabang and sitting in tractor tyres floating down the Mekong drinking cocktails!
Flying from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur, our next desitnations take in some stunning jungle and beaches as we travel from Kuala Lumpa up through the Cameron Highlands and down the east cost of Malaysia. After a quick stop in Singapore its Australia for us.
Arriving in Darwin on the 26th October we spend a week doing the Kakadu national park, taking in the waterfalls and scenery. Then its down to Alice Springs and Ayers rock for a 4-day 'break' before flying to Cairns to do the mangrove swamps on the 4th Novermber.
That then gives us just under 4-weeks to take the Greyhound explorer bus overland to Sydney where we catch our flight to New Zealand on the 30th November.
Landing in Christchurch on the South Island we hope to explore a little on bikes and will be spending Christmas and New Year in NZ before leaving Auckland on the North Island for Chile.
Arriving Santiago on the 7th Janruary we don't have a clue what we are going to do here except for the possibility of getting down to the Patagonian south of Chile.
The its up to Peru on the 4th February to visit Jono. We land in Cuzco on the 27th February and take the Inca trail to Machu Pichu returning for a transit flight to Ecuador on the 4th March.
It will be great to meet Beth and Os in Quito and, depending on remaining cash, would be awesome if we could get over to the Galapogas Islands.
Its going to be a great time to meet interesting people, see fantastic sights and taste authentic food.
